While obliged to comply with all minimum requirements mandated by law, Palmer strives to surpass industry-wide standards as a means of achieving excellence in safety performance. Associates are not only responsible for their own safety, but also for ensuring that their actions do not endanger other individuals. A cooperative effort with fellow Associates as well as with supervision is a prerequisite for continued employment.

The Safety Review Committee assists in providing a safe work environment. On-site safety audits are conducted using the Safety Audit Checklist to identify and correct potential risks/hazards within the facility. Follow-up inspections ensure that corrective action has been taken. Incident investigations are the direct result of accident/injury cases. The investigation process is intended to gather case-related information, determine the cause, and provide corrective/preventative measures. The end result is aimed at enhancing Associate awareness, re-evaluating existing techniques, improving physical conditions, and preventing recurrence of unsafe actions.

Palmer Logistics recognizes Associate training as an ongoing critical process. Training matrices, that are periodically audited, ensure associates are properly trained and cross-trained in all related work areas. Training includes periodic meetings designed not only to educate specific job functions, but also to pinpoint safety topics and increase Associate awareness of job safety. These meetings emphasize Associate participation and encourage individual opinions, suggestions, and questions as a means of expanding job knowledge and recognizing potential hazards in the workplace.
